The Lord Lieutenants Charity Hub

Project Outline

To work with Watford and Three Rivers trust and the Lord Lieutenant of
Hertfordshire to furnish a 3000 square foot brand new charity hub donated
by Warner Brothers Studios in Leavesden.

The aim of the space was to provide modern operational facilities and
central hub for 8 local charities, increasing opportunities for cross-charity
collaboration, innovation and local impact.
With zero budget, JPA were invited to design, co- ordinate and furnish the
space for up to 32 users – the challenge was on!

Working with Net Zero International, a fellow member of the Herts GoGreen
& Grow Group, introductions were made to Vanarama and GSK who had
identified surplus office furniture requirements and were looking for local reuse
opportunities. JPA co-ordinated with Vanarama, GSK, Warner Brothers
and Lintex, our fabulous noticeboard supplier, creating a layouts that worked
for the Trust and occupying charities using decommissioned desking and
storage all at zero cost.

Warner Brothers, Vanarama and JPA Workspaces jointly provided labour to
assemble and fit-out the offices, pooling resources to bring this wonderful
community project to completion whilst Twenty-Two Business provided
media support and coverage.

Key Outcomes

Financial Value

Working with local partners, JPA Workspaces sourced and coordinated redundant pre-loved furniture at zero cost for this Charity Hub project, saving £31,000 in furniture spend. Locality of all contributors kept donated co-ordination, transport and installation costs to manageable levels, freeing charity funds to be spent entirely where needed most.

Environmental Value

Re-using 94 pre-loved furniture items also saved 4320kg CO2e, that’s 4.32 tonnes of CO2ecarbon from the manufacture of new
furniture items. Additionally, these works reduced associated negative impacts on nature and virgin resources, transport emissions and associated pollution from manufacturing sites

Partnership Value

Partnerships are crucial for future business success in a world with diminishing assets. Sharing knowledge and resources enables innovative collaborations, bringing like-minded organizations together to achieve great outcomes.

Social Value

These works enabled JPA Workspaces, Warner Brothers, Vanarama, GSK, Lintex and Twenty Two Business to contribute meaningfully to our operational community, giving charity hub occupants a platform for even greater local impact.
