Sustainable workspaces created for today and the future

At JPA Workspaces, responsible operation is at the heart of everything we do.

That means looking at our operational impacts to ensure we deliver workspaces for our clients which deliver for both people and planet.

With a 2040 NetZero target in place and externally verified SECR, we are on track for a 65% scope 1 & 2 emission reduction by 2027  with an ambitious 50% reduction target of scope 3 emissions by 2030.

In relation to our products and services, ours is an extremely wasteful industry with over 1.2million office desks and 1.6million office chairs going to UK landfill every year.

Even worse, up to 30% of a building's total carbon over a typical 40yar period can be from furniture alone due to frequent and often unecessary replacement.

With a focus on UN SDG12, Responsible Consumption and Production our goal to is to reduce our clients' furniture waste and thereby embodied carbon.

We achieve this by helping clients optimise their furniture resources through longevity and circularity, supported by our broad range of in-house maintenance services from specification to decommissioning and take back.

We support clients to consume less, buy better and use their furniture for longer. This reduces waste, minimises carbon destruction of natural habitats and resources and can significantly also reduce procurement costs.

What does a sustainable workspace look like in practice?

We help businesses leaders make their workplaces more sustainable by specifying better quality materials and products conducive to longevity and circularity.

Sustainable workplace practices include design for disassembly, willingness to explore repairs, refresh, re-upholstery and re-working services, consideration of pre-loved furniture items and a commitment to zero landfill at end of life. JPA provide these solutions and more.

Our Head of Sustainability, Fiona Edwards, has developed a white paper sharing her tips for more responsible furniture practices and how to embed this into your business strategy. She's always happy to help so please don't hesitate to get in touch.

We're always happy to share our knowledge to help you and your professional teams Furnish with Purpose.  One of the ways that we have been able to achieve this is through our community furniture rehoming programme which delivers measurable social and environmental value for your ESG reporting.
