NHS waiting areas and receptions, furnished while you stay open
A waiting area has to work for a patient who is anxious, a visitor who is lost and a member of staff on a twelve-hour shift, usually in a building that never closes. We’ve furnished waiting areas, receptions and staff rooms for NHS trusts for 30 years.
What a waiting area needs
Surfaces that can be cleaned properly. Wipeable vinyl, sealed seams and frames without dust traps, so infection control can do its job.
Seating for everyone. A mix of seat heights, chairs with arms to help people stand, and clear space for wheelchairs.
The right number of seats. At Watford General’s phlebotomy unit, a 33 m² waiting area was planned for 15 chairs and two wheelchair spaces, so the room works at its busiest without blocking the way through.

Helping patients find their way
Colour and layout can do the work of signs.
At Chase Farm Hospital, part of the Royal Free London, we zoned the waiting areas so patients could find their way more easily. Every item met NHS requirements for accessibility and hygiene.

Working in a hospital that never closes
Chase Farm runs around the clock, so we delivered over several days at the quietest times, and care carried on around us.
Where a site needs it, we deliver at weekends, as we did for an NHS dental practice. The furniture we removed was recycled, with nothing sent to landfill.

Staff rooms count too
For Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust, our “Rest and Refresh” programme refurbished staff rooms across several sites, giving staff somewhere to take a proper break.
It’s often the room nobody budgets for, and the one staff notice most.

Buying through the NHS framework
JPA is an authorised distributor on the NHS Supply Chain Facilities and Office Solutions framework, Lot 1, reference 2025/S 000-046095. A trust can buy through an agreement that has already been tendered, without starting its own.
Our 2026 NHS brochure has framework prices for seating, desking and storage, with delivery and installation included.

Projects we’ve furnished
Chase Farm Hospital and Finchley Memorial Hospital for the Royal Free London. Watford General for West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals. Staff rooms for Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.
New offices at Lister Hospital, where the Head of Supply Chain told us “the Lister team (and myself) LOVE the new office!!”
Everything we supply carries a 10-year supported warranty. If you’re planning work on a waiting area, reception or staff room, we’ll survey it and tell you what’s possible.
